Gate Access

When you first arrive at the ALS, gate clearance will have been arranged for you by the User Services Office. Berkeley Lab employees and visiting researchers (participating guests) may arrange for gate clearance for their visitors through the Lab's Site Access Office. Please notify the Site Office by submitting a Visitor Pass Request (see below) before 3 p.m. on the day before the expected visit. Include the name(s) of any visitors, the time you expect them, and your name and contact information.

Please note: Owing to heightened security measures at Berkeley Lab, all visitors must be able to provide picture identification at the entrance to the laboratory. Visitors from outside the U.S. should be prepared to show a valid passport.

Before 3 p.m. the day before visitor is expected, notify the Berkeley Lab Site Access Office by submitting a Visitor Pass Request .

Note: If you have missed the 3:00 p.m. deadline, call the Site Access Office (ext. 4551); after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and on weekends and holidays, call security guard on duty at Blackberry Gate (ext. 5472).
