NUFO 2007
The 2007 National User Facility Organization (NUFO) meeting will be held at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from Monday, June 4 through Tuesday, June 5. This year will be the fourth occasion for all user administrators and user organization chairs to meet and discuss issues of common interest to the community which utilizes these laboratories. This meeting builds upon the workshops held since 1990 of the light source users' administrators. It has since expanded to include user administrators and User Executive Committee chairs of all the Department of Energy's user facilities for basic research.
We have scheduled the items of most importance to the UEC Chairs on Monday, June 4. Agenda items will include updates on how science is being handled by a new congress, and what we’re doing as a country to improve the competitiveness of the United States in a global economy. We’ll continue with updates on grass-roots efforts and coordinating our various user groups. There will be a no-host dinner held at a location to be determined.
Tuesday, June 5 is geared more towards user administrators. Agenda items include proprietary usage, computer security, safety, and user access. We’ll also provide meeting space for specific communities to meet in the afternoon and discuss items unique to those facilities.
There is no charge to attend this meeting, but all attendees must register so that adequate space and refreshments are provided. Visitors from outside Berkeley Lab must provide all needed information to avoid delays at the gate.
